Let the Battle Begin

I am trying my hand at vegetable gardening this year. Our fence falling down in a storm enabled us to rebuild a new fence closer to the street and gain some sunny real estate space.

So I decided to build some raised garden beds and try vegetable gardening. I am worried it will be me against all the wildlife but I am up for the challenge.

The girls were amazing helpers in making the beds. They helped shovel the dirt and rake the dirt in the beds.

Brianna is so much like me (Elise). Her high for the day was getting self serve frozen yogurt and helping mom in the yard. She is such a hard worker. I was seriously impressed with her stamina. I think I might have a future gardener.

Well done. I'm sure you will do just fine. We loved our raised bed gardens at our old house. Our only problem was lots of traveling and not being around to water, weed and pick as much as needed. So I suggest you find a garden sitter if you're ever gone. Otherwise with such HAPPY dirt as I see you'll have great stuff. Have fun!

Wow! Those are impressive raised beds! You seem to be pretty good at anything you do I'm sure gardening will be just the same!

Thanks, Jen. I got the plans from one of my new favorite website: http://ana-white.com/. I have been dying to make several things from her site but this is the first one I actually did. If I were to do it again though, I would use cedar decking. But I was trying to keep the costs down. We shall see on the actual veggies. I have a pretty green thumb but so far I don't think my vegetables have gotten the word.
